Recently, Create Your Style with Swarovski Elements introduced me to a new app called Create Your Style Color Carousel. It's essentially an interactive color wheel that lets you choose a main color, and provides you with coordinating color choices. It's REALLY useful if you're into jewelry making and need ideas on color combinations, but I've found myself even using it for little art and painting projects!
I have a paper version that I keep in my jewelry supply box :)
Aside from using it directly on the website, you can download the app at iTunes here.
PINTEREST CONTEST:
For those of you who love Pinterest (who doesn't?) Create Your Style is currently holding a Pinterest contest. This contest runs until January 6, which I know is right around the corner but I promise entering the contest only takes a few minutes or even seconds to do (since pinning is such an easy and quick thing to do). For the contest, creat your own COLORful World Board and pin at least 5 photos representing what you see a 'colorful world' as. After you do that, comment on one of their pins on their example board, including a link to your completed board. Create Your Style will choose 3 winners to receive a compilation of Swaraovski crystals to create the COLORful World that you shared on Pinterest. If you'd like to check out the terms and conditions of the contest, click here.
DIY and GIVEAWAY:
Create Your Style was kind enough to send me a kit to make a piece of jewelry with Swarovski beads and pearls. I received a necklace project, featuring rose gold chain (LOVE) and various Swarovski beads. I have a soft spot for really delicate, small crystals, so I was pretty much in love with this design.
The kit came with all the supplies needed - minus tools such as pliers - and instructions. I made a few personal changes to the design, but my finished product was more or less the same as the kit's.
How pretty is the necklace?! The extender chain allows it to be worn longer if desired, which I think I'll do. While my projects here at studs & pearls do tend to be on the edgier side, you might notice that I like to mix in feminine pieces once in a while. This is right along those lines :)
Thanks to Create Your Style, a lucky s&p reader will win a Create Your Style with Swarovski Elements Creative Jewelry kit. The kit that I received is just an example of what kind of kits they have - I believe you will be receiving a random one, which in my opinion, is much more fun since I love being surprised with new DIY projects.
TO ENTER:
Simply comment on THIS post with your name, e-mail address, and what you would make if you had unlimited access to Swarovski crystal beads. I think it'd be interesting to hear what you will come up with! Personally, I think I would make a colorblocked garland.
This giveaway is completely different/separate from the Pinterest contest. I will choose a winner at random in ONE (1) week, on January 11, 2013. Create Your Style will be sending the winner their gift directly. This giveaway is open to anyone - good luck!

ReplyDeleteHello Kirsten,
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog, and you have a lot of creativity.
If I had those beads, I'd probably sew them onto a sheer collared shirt because they are my favorite, and also to a plain dress to make it pop more. I've always had a fascination with vintage clothing and I know the beads will look good on anything vintage. Really appreciate the giveaway, thanks(:
