cake apparel: Lace Tie T-shirt Tank Top

T-shirt projects will always have a significant place in the DIY world. A lot of readers have been asking me for ideas on ways to incorporate lace into t-shirts - so, when the folks at Cake Apparel asked me to DIY a shirt, I knew exactly what I was going to do. It's a simple and easy project, and it's great for beginner seamstresses. You don't even have to cut off the sleeves if you don't want to - as always, it's totally up to you.

Supplies:

- Cake Apparel T-shirt (c/o Cake Apparel)
Airplanes and Stars
- Strip of lace the width of the bottom of the shirt
(Mine was 64 inches long and 4.5 inches wide)

Visit CakeApparel.com and Cakeshop.storenvy.com to check out the rest of Cake Apparel's shirts.

1) Fold the strip of lace evenly in half.

2) Unfold the lace.

3) Lay the shirt on the lace, so that the side of the shirt aligns with the fold of the lace strip. Fold the lace back over.

4) Pin the lace to the very bottom of the shirt.

5) Sew along the edge around the entire shirt, right above the pins. I used the original seam of the t-shirt as a guide.

6) As a personal preference, I cut the ends of the lace diagonally.

7) Tie the lace in a knot.

8) Cut the sleeves off. As always, its better to cut a little at first, try it on then cut more if necessary.

Enjoy your weekend! xo
