Target Style asked myself and several other DIY ladies to personalize a pair of white Converse. They're also giving away some supplies and a $40 Target gift card for one lucky s&p reader!
Keep reading to see how I personalized my pair, where to check out the rest of the Converse projects and how to win the giveaway.
If you'd like to check out all of the Converse projects, head over to Target Style's Facebook fan page. The projects are in the photo album titled "Get Creative with Converse One Star Shoes"! You can also follow Target Style on Twitter, at @TargetStyle.
Here's what I did to my pair of Converse shoes -
What I Used:
- Converse One Star Shoes in White (c/o Target)
- Crayola Fabric Marker in Black (c/o Target)
- GO Create! Glitter Fabric Paint, clear (c/o Target)
- DecoArt Maroon Fabric Paint
- Black ultra fine glitter
- Thin paintbrush
- Pencil
- Maroon embroidery thread & sewing needle
- 12 round dome studs
- Sharp pair of scissors
- Jewelry pliers
The finished shoes! It was a lot of fun, and I'd like to thank Target Style for giving me the chance to work on this project.
Now...on to the giveaway :)
One (1) lucky winner will win some supplies (c/o Target) and a $40 Target gift card. I decided I'll also throw in some extra supplies, too! I'm thinking some studs, trimmings, and/or paint.

I love Converse! I had a pair in high school that I covered in fabric marker - stars, hearts, song lyrics, and inside jokes...then I wore them till they fell apart! I would love to do that again to a pair of white ones (my current aubergine ones are too dark to show the writing too well)!
ReplyDeleteRosie868@aol.com
I also just became a fan of s&p on facebook
ReplyDeleteRosie868@aol.com
Aaaand I became a fan of Target Style on facebook (overkill? No. I just LOVE target)

Love converse and Target so this is awesome! I would probably stencil a doily on them since I saw a sharpie + doily DIY just the other day that was mind blowing!

Oi. The lengths I will go to get a Target gift card. Target Style is now "liked" by yours truly!
ReplyDeletebtuckerpdx (at) gmail.com
I'm the biggest glitter person I've ever known. So I'd use some (lots) of glitter on the plastic area where the toes are and then use the fabric markers to make some sort of design (chevron possibly?) on the fabric part

I'm already a S&P fan
ReplyDeletelenaa_08(at)hotmail(dot)com

ReplyDeleteI would galaxy paint both sides leaving the heel and toes unpainted. The heel of my shoe would be solid black glitter and I would attempt to stud the toe but that could prove difficult.
--emily b.
Love converse... I would definitely add touches of color in the form of glitter, marker pens, and something creative with the shoelaces as well.

I love that so many diyers were given a chance to do this.
ReplyDeleteI think I would draw a print with the fabric markers, or use lace as a stencil and spray paint or something with glitter/sequins. There is so many things I want to try.
brightening_soul@yahoo.com
OOOH project! I would probably draw in some bunnies and birds- maybe a hedgehog- then glitter the thing. Fun!
ReplyDeleteTweeted, I was already Fb fans of S&P and TargetStyle.
ReplyDeletebrightening_soul@yahoo.com
love you personal touch
ReplyDeletecamilla
I love your shoes!! For mine I'd probably glitter the whole shoe, stud the top brim of the shoe and put jewels on the toe. Then i'd switch the laces for bright colored ones.

(my mom made it. when i was in 5th grade. XD. i'm sorry. haha)
I'd personalize a pair of white Converse by, using a green/brown/earthy colored paint over the whole shoe and draw a deer with the antlers forming into tree branches on the sides and use a fine glitter on top of the whole shoe and dye the laces a brown color. :D
ReplyDelete~mymomwillreadthis@fairpoint.net~
I would go all out with some fabric markers/paint....im thinking a galaxy theme.
ReplyDeletebearsluck202@gmail.com
Wowee! What a great project!
ReplyDeleteI would surely pimp out a pair of White Converse by fabric painting with a fine tip brush a Whooping Crane in flight. Body and head on lace line (tounge), wings spread across the sides. Forget about the laces getting in the way of an awsome design, remove those puppies, sew down the front as slip-on's and rock them RUN DMC style. I would also stud a vertical line across the heel seam. Simple and girly in the front, and rocking when I walk away. LOVE your blog, such an inspriation!

I had an awesome pair of hightop converse in high school. They were covered in my friend's drawings and autographs. I had two pairs of shoelaces in each shoe: one was robot print and cheeta print, the other shoe was hot pink stars and barbie print. Sadly I ruined them at Hippie Fest '09.
ReplyDeleteI have been dying to completely rhinestone-out some converses. All different shapes and sizes, plus some cone spikes in the back...and maybe glass shards!
Email: commander_bananafana@hotmail.com
I've always wanted to "mary jane" a pair by cutting out the tongue and lacing the top holes. Then I'd probably spray paint them using lace as a stencil :]

If I could DIY these shoes, I'd probably put stripes on the main canvas part of the shoe, and on the toe, I would cover the white part with floral fabric, because I love the way floral print and stripes go together!

So fun!! My first instinct was to glitter them because I'm obsessed with all things sparkly lately, but I'm also picturing doing something with mis-matched buttons....!

ReplyDeleteI've been drawing on my converse since I got my first pair in 6th grade! I was known for having lyrics from my favorite song of the year, accompanied by random doodles all over each pair. Those shoes went to every concert with me, with the soles falling out...but I think now I would give the shoes a more refined edge.
I love your idea of the black and white with pops of color, as well as the studs. I'd give you an exact game plan, but I'm more of an improv kinda girl.

I would DIY these shoes with silver Dome studs on the toe with some maroon paint underneath with just enough space between the studs to see the paint, i would use maroon and royal purple embroidery thread to weave at the top of the shoe. with the star i would use very fine silver glitter to pain the inside with. I would use black or purple lace to cover the white canvass. and I would dye the shoe laces black. :))

ReplyDeleteim a fan on facebook katz2394@gmail.com i already have white shoes to DIY :) so excited
ReplyDeleteAnother way to DIY these, I would with a very thing brush, I would use a dark orange fabric paint to paint an elephant on the out facing sides. I would take the shoelaces and sew or small stud that part of the shoe to the tongue and paint the trunk going up the tongue with glittery blue water coming out the trunk. On the toe i would use blue paint, dark orange paint, and silver glitter. I'm thinking for the back(the vertical line) use the same thing as the rubber toe. for the inside facing side, i would use the quote "Be The Change You Want To See In The World" -Ghandi :))
ReplyDeletedaniella.rojas2011@yahoo.com
Oooh! I'd probably do something with burlap to embellish the shoes.
