MyMemories Review + Promo Code + Giveaway!

Recently, MyMemories - a digital scrapbooking software company - contacted me about trying out and reviewing MyMemories Suite Version 2.0. At first I thought, scrapbooking? But I'm a fashion DIY blog...but a few seconds later, it suddenly dawned on me that scrapbooking and fashion can totally go hand in hand. So, I decided to give the scrapbooking software a shot. Here's what I thought of it, and what I made with it. There's also a giveaway AND a promo code for my readers, so keep reading!

When it comes to fashion and DIY, inspiration means everything. For years, I kept a sketchbook full of fashion photos, mixed in with my own notes and ideas for future DIY's. Of course I had to constantly decorate the pages (as I do with everything), resulting in something similar to a scrapbook of fashion inspiration. On top of this, if you're anything like me - you probably have a ton of inspirational photos saved on your computer, gathered from all over the web.

I was excited to give MyMemories a try because I knew I'd be able to compile some of my favorite inspirational photos in a really fun and interesting way. I realize it's just easier to stick all your photos in a folder and call it a day, but why not have some fun with it? I loved creating these pages, because they actually stimulated my creativity and ideas even more...which is exactly what I love about collage/altered art in general. Digital scrapbooking is an entirely new world, letting you push the envelope a little further.

This program is available at MyMemories.com for $39.97 USD. After purchasing, you can download the program directly from the site or have it shipped to you.

After downloading and installing MyMemories (which was a piece of cake), I started playing around with different layouts and backgrounds (also a piece of cake). The program is easy to navigate and pretty self-explanatory, in my opinion. My favorite part was choosing the different "papers", "embellishments", etc. I do love altered art and try to art journal in my spare time, so I appreciated the availability of different "mediums".

Aside from fashion inspiration, I also realized it'd be a unique way to compile some things on your shopping list. Above are two pairs of boots I'm loving (another story for another day) - see the pink "stitching" on the bottom? That was an add on that I was soo excited to come across. (There's also some green stitching in the first photo of this post). If you're an altered art/collage geek like I am, you'll love these features. Granted, it's nothing like real life scrapbooking, but it's a great alternative if you have limited time and resources (and printer ink!)

Here's a screen shot of the program in action. You can readily browse through your photos - as seen on the left - which is a great feature. Everything you need to embellish and create your pages are along the top and right.

Want a chance to win a free download of this program? MyMemories has been awesome enough to offer one of my readers this software,  for free! There are 4 (four) ways to enter:

----

1) Visit MyMemories.com and check out the available kits/album templates/add-ons. Comment on this post stating your favorite.
2) Comment letting me know how you'll use the MyMemories Suite V2 program. It doesn't have to be fashion related, necessarily!
3) Became a fan of MyMemories on Facebook, and comment here stating you became a fan.
4) Follow MyMemories on Twitter, and comment here stating you followed them.

----

Everytime you comment, please include your e-mail.

That's 4 possible entries.  I'll randomly choose 1 (one) winner in two weeks. Last day to enter is September 29, 2011.

And now for the promo code! Studs & Pearls readers will also be able to get $10 off MyMemories Suite v2 with the following code:

STMMMS37378

I'd recommend copying and pasting it to avoid any errors. When I announce the winner on September 30, I'll be sure to remind everyone of the $10 off promo code.

Good luck to everyone that enters the giveaway! Don't forget to show me what you create :)

xo,
kirsten

  21. I would use it for a variety of things.

Every now and then I like to make up photo books as gifts for friends, when I've collected a few gems of photos.

I post a lot of my crafts online, and this would make a lovely way to display several photos of one item. I don't like to upload a lot because I don't want to bore people.

Compiling pictures from my StarKid adventures.

    All sorts of fun stuff!
