This past summer, Bella Clothing sent me some of my favorite pieces from their simple yet sophisticated collection. I knew their Tri-Blend Hoodie would be a great alternative to the Studded Trench Coat, and kept thinking what an awesome piece it would be for the fall.
Not only are hoodies more "wearable", but I used flat dome studs instead of spikes. That's not to say it won't draw any attention, but you all know how I love my studs. While the trench is more of a dress up piece, I like the comfy - yet edgy - look of this hoodie.
Just in time for autumn. My favorite season :)
This is a Triblend Sponge Fleece Zip Hoodie in Red Heather, c/o of Bella. It's soooo comfortable and SOFT! I could easily fall asleep in it, studs and all.
I used silver Standard Dome Studs from Crustpunks.com, exactly 84 in total
(3 rows of 14 studseach)
As with all pronged studs, jewelry pliers are a must. Fabric glue can be a huge help in the end, but is completely optional.
Using the shoulder seam as a guide, I started studding one center line of 14 studs. Obviously, you can use more or less if you'd like. If you make a mistake, you can easily remove the stud and reposition. The material of the hoodie is pretty forgiving if you mess up a few times- again, it's so thick and soft. Love it!
Prongs on the reverse side of the fabric.
After the first center row is done, I added another row on either side.
I turned the sleeve inside out and added a dab of fabric glue to the prongs to further secure them. Since the fabric of this Bella hoodie is so thick, it won't bleed through the other side.
While I love prints, patterns, and crazy colors, I still love my basics. With that said, I have to say that I highly prefer Bella's Triblend Sponge Fleece Hoodie to American Apparel's Flex Fleece Hoodie. I own 2 AA hoodies and now that I've worn Bella's, it's my favorite by far. Just my personal opinion :)
What are you studding this season?
